Fill the beach house with water

Overflow is a free puzzle game where you play as Walter, a water droplet whose ultimate goal is to flood an entire home. You will do this by activating or reaching water sources all over the beach house and switching between three states of matter. 

This game from Octopus 8 Studios is similar to 3D platformer games like Super Lucky’s Tale, where you will have to navigate different areas, solve puzzles, and pick up certain items. Overflow also allows you to interact with different appliances to help make your adventure much easier.

Smooth physics and a large area to explore 

Overflow presents a humorous storyline paired with adorable, low-poly graphics that makes it entertaining for all ages. It uses lifelike physics that perfectly mimics the movement of water. This can be seen in the way Walter, the water droplet you control, suddenly stops or falls from a certain height. You’ll also be able to change into Walter’s different forms — an ice cube named Icelyn and a gaseous form named Gus.

This game allows you to explore a sizable map filled with puzzles to solve. Most are quite simple but some of them will be quite challenging so you’ll need to think of the best course of action by using the objects and appliances around you. The controls are also shown to you at the very start of the game so you’ll be able to learn them quickly. 

While the controls are typically smooth, there are times when your character will get stuck on certain objects, making it difficult to move away. This even happens in areas where there are no visible blockages in your path. The camera also has a tendency to clip onto your character suddenly so you will need to adjust the angle manually to fix it.

A good balance of qualities

There are some noticeable issues concerning character movement and camera sensitivity, but Overflow still offers a number of great features that make it worth playing. With an entertaining plot, numerous challenges to go through, and an incredibly cute main character, it provides a great amount of fun for all audiences. Seeing how different environments can affect water also provides an educational bonus for young players.
